Job summary

By Light Professional IT Services is seeking an experienced Enterprise Database Architect to provide strategic technical leadership across our enterprise database ecosystem. The role complements our existing DBAs and focuses on architecture, performance engineering, capacity planning, and optimization across PostgreSQL, Oracle, MS SQL Server, Sybase ASE, and Amazon RDS.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in enterprise database admin/engineering/architecture.
• Experience with mission-critical environments.
• Strong knowledge of RDS, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, and Sybase ASE.
• Knowledge of MongoDB, DynamoDB, Cassandra, or Redis.
• Advanced SQL, T-SQL, indexing, execution plans, and performance tuning.
• Experience with data modeling, ETL, backup/recovery, HA, replication.
• Collaborating with development teams to improve performance.
• Linux and Windows server environments and scripting.
• Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide enterprise-wide technical leadership for database architecture, performance engineering, and capacity planning.
• Partner with Application Development, Infrastructure, Cloud, DevSecOps, and DBA teams to optimize interactions and standards.
• Lead architecture reviews, performance assessments, workload analysis, testing, and capacity planning.
• Establish and maintain enterprise database standards, governance, baselines, and DR.
• Drive continuous process improvement, automation, and reduce technical debt.
• Serve as SME, evaluate emerging technologies, and develop strategic roadmaps.
