Job summary

Perplexity is seeking a senior commercial attorney to join our Legal team in San Francisco. You will independently lead end‑to‑end negotiations of Enterprise customer agreements, including MSAs, SaaS, and API terms, while advising on DPAs and security exhibits.

You will partner with Sales, Partnerships, Deal Desk, Security, Privacy, Product, and Finance to design durable, scalable contract structures and drive deal velocity in a rapidly evolving AI environment.

Qualifications

• JD and active U.S. state bar.
• 7+ years of combined law firm and in‑house experience, with substantial in‑house component.
• Experience owning complex enterprise SaaS or API deals with regulated customers.

Responsibilities

• Independently lead end‑to‑end drafting, review, and negotiation of Enterprise customer agreements across our offerings (MSAs, order forms, SaaS and API terms, DPAs, BAAs, security exhibits).
• Serve as trusted legal partner to Enterprise Sales, Partnerships, Deal Desk, and Customer Success to accelerate deal velocity while protecting terms.
• Extend and maintain the Enterprise negotiation playbook, DPAs, and term libraries as product surface and regulatory environment evolve.
• Advise on AI‑specific contract terms for enterprise deployments and data postures; negotiate output ownership and liability clauses.
• Partner cross‑functionally with Product, Engineering, Security, Privacy, Finance, and Compliance to surface legal risk early.
• Monitor evolving regulatory landscape for enterprise AI, data protection, and public sector procurement; translate into practical contractual positions.
• Represent Perplexity Legal externally on customer negotiation calls with counterparty counsel.
