Qualifications

• Minimum of Associate's degree and 15+ years in engineering or architecture, including 7+ years modernizing cloud architecture.
• Minimum of 6 years' managerial, supervisory and/or work leadership experience.
• Deep experience with traditional enterprise architecture, transforming core systems and partnering with business leaders at an enterprise level.
• Experience building and implementing large-scale architecture strategy and roadmaps.
• 17+ years' experience in engineering or architecture (preferred).
• Previous Chief Architect experience at a Fortune 500 company, ideally in financial institutions.
• Experience within the financial sector and moving abstract concepts through implementation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong critical thinking.

Responsibilities

• Work with the CIO and ELT to develop and execute the enterprise technical strategy, aligning architecture with business imperatives.
• Provide thought leadership on emerging technologies to drive a multi-year strategic roadmap.
• Partner with ELT and senior leaders to identify tech gaps and design solutions that drive growth and transformation.
• Collaborate with Risk and Cybersecurity leadership to ensure architecture compliance with risk standards and regulations.
• Direct the enterprise architecture community to maintain engineering best practices and adoption of new tech.
• Exercise management authority over staffing, performance, promotions, and terminations.
• Adhere to risk and regulatory standards; design, implement, and monitor internal controls to mitigate risk.
• Promote a diverse environment that reflects the M&T Bank brand and maintain internal controls with audits.
