Job summary

Citi is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to own large-scale enterprise application development within our Technology function. You will design and deliver full-stack solutions using Java, React, Kafka, and Oracle while guiding mid-level engineers and collaborating across product, DevOps, and business teams.

This senior individual contributor role shapes architecture decisions, enforces standards, and drives meaningful technology outcomes in a global financial services environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Master’s degree preferred for senior / leadership track.
• Proven experience designing scalable enterprise apps and full-stack architectures.
• Strong background in API design, data integration, and modern Java/JS stacks.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain large-scale enterprise applications across the full stack.
• Architect and implement data exchange and messaging using Kafka.
• Define and enforce engineering standards for coding, testing, and deployment.
• Collaborate with product owners, DevOps, and stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
• Mentor mid-level engineers and analysts to support team delivery.
• Assess risk and ensure compliance, security, and quality in engineering decisions.
