Job summary

Northwestern University is seeking a senior-level architect to shape our enterprise AI service portfolio and governance framework. You will engage with AI platform vendors such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and Microsoft, guiding risk, guardrails, and operational controls across academic, research, and administrative environments.

You will partner with security, privacy, legal, procurement, research, and platform engineering to translate governance decisions into properly configured AI services

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of enterprise AI platforms, models, vendor ecosystems, and generative AI service patterns.
• Ability to translate strategy and risk requirements into practical platform configurations and service controls.
• Experience with identity, access management, data protection, compliance, audit logging, and security controls for cloud-based services.
• Skill in evaluating vendor security, privacy commitments, and technical roadmaps.
• Ability to lead across security, privacy, legal, procurement, research, and technology stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the enterprise AI service strategy and roadmap for model platforms and services.
• Evaluate AI platform vendors, models, and deployment options for academic, research, and administrative use.
• Define approved service offerings, access patterns, and lifecycle expectations for major platforms.
• Translate governance requirements into platform controls and service practices.
• Lead governance for AI guardrails, data residency, model access, and monitoring.
