Job summary

Northern Trust is building an AI Security organization to enable safe AI adoption across the enterprise. The Principal AI Security Architect will craft architecture artifacts, reference architectures, and guardrails, working with engineering, identity, data, and risk teams.

This hands-on role requires evaluating designs, resolving complex security challenges, and shaping the security foundations for scalable AI use across the organization.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in security architecture, enterprise architecture, cloud architecture, engineering, or related disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Lead security architecture for AI, agentic AI, cloud, SaaS, and emerging tech initiatives; review designs for security requirements and risks.
• Define security patterns for AI agents, AI platforms, and orchestration frameworks; create practical implementation guidance for teams building AI capabilities.
• Build and maintain reusable AI security reference architectures, security patterns, and guardrails for enterprise AI adoption.
• Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, Security Engineering, IAM, Application Security, and Cloud Engineering teams to drive secure AI enablement.
• Conduct threat modeling and security design reviews for AI systems and supporting platforms.
