Job summary

The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California seeks a Senior Engineering Technician (Network) to maintain and optimize the OT SCADA network. You will lead asset management, perform root-cause analysis, and work with IT, project teams, and external consultants to ensure reliability.

Hybrid schedule with two in-person days weekly; start times vary between 6 am and 6 pm; California driver’s license required; extensive network experience in SCADA and secure architectures preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency and two years of college in engineering.
• Eight years of relevant experience, two at Engineering Technician III level.
• Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Lead lifecycle asset management for SCADA network infrastructure, including condition assessments, asset inventory governance, end-of-life tracking, risk-based replacement planning, and capital improvement roadmaps.
• Develop, deploy, and oversee network strategies for SCADA environments including servers, PCs, PLCs, RTUs, LANs, WANs, wireless devices, VMs, and DMZs.
• Review, troubleshoot, and resolve complex network and system issues with expert-level root-cause analysis.
• Apply secure SCADA network architecture and cybersecurity best practices to protect critical infrastructure.
• Lead and contribute to planning, deployment, configuration and upgrade of Metropolitan SCADA network systems.
• Collaborate with IT, project managers, and SCADA consultants to review designs and guide decisions for successful projects.
• Develop and maintain technical standards, documentation, and procedures while mentoring junior staff.
