Job summary

Colorado Network Staffing (CNS) is seeking an experienced Engineering Technician VI to support a federal rural water supply construction program based in Pierre, South Dakota.

This role requires independent construction inspection, technical review, and coordination among project personnel, Tribal representatives, sponsors, engineers, and contractors, ensuring conformance with plans, standards, and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, construction, or related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
• Extensive construction inspection experience on civil or water infrastructure projects.
• Practical knowledge of civil engineering concepts, principles, and practices applicable to rural water supply projects.
• Knowledge of water control and conveyance features and associated construction activities.
• Extensive knowledge of construction practices, methods, techniques, materials, equipment, and costs.
• Ability to inspect construction activities for compliance with plans and specifications.
• Knowledge of construction safety standards and regulations.
• Experience with federal construction or infrastructure programs (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Conduct field inspections of contractor activities for compliance with project plans, specs, and submittals.
• Review submittals and provide technical comments and recommendations.
• Prepare detailed written field reports with progress, safety issues, and notable discussions.
• Coordinate with tribal representatives, sponsors, engineers, and contractors.
• Assist with budget monitoring and contract modifications.
• Provide GPS and field data support for rural water infrastructure projects.
