Job summary

SAIC in Oak Harbor, WA is seeking an Engineering Technician V to support Navy programs. Qualifications

• HS/GED and five years related experience
• Practical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, electronic principles
• Knowledge of testing, modification, fabrication and installation of equipment
• Ability to use test equipment for RF, fiber optic, 1553 testing
• Ability to read and interpret drawings/blueprints
• Adapt shop practices to guidelines
• Proficiency with common hand tools and powered equipment
• Ability to interface with technicians, engineers and QA personnel
• Independent and team work capability
• Knowledge of ESD protective practices
• MS Office skills for reporting
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Hazard awareness involving noise, chemicals, lifting, electrical hazards
• US Citizenship with interim clearance and eventual DOD Secret clearance

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, install, test, troubleshoot, and repair wire harnesses on ground and airframe applications
• Conduct tests and experiments with standard equipment
• Design and construct major units and test equipment; analyze results and redesign as needed
• Read drawings and follow diagrams to assemble devices
• Review drawings for modification and tooling needs
• Recommend design changes to improve productivity and reduce costs
• Repair avionics cable harnesses and perform repairs per drawings/NAVAIR requirements
• Perform continuity testing (IFD, DITMCO, DVM, 1553, RF, fiber optics)
• Use encapsulation and coating materials (conformal coatings, RTVs, epoxies)
• Install electrical cables, connectors, and assemblies; handle mechanical components
• Maintain safety, quality and incident reporting practices
• Collaborate with engineers and management as needed
