Comcentric Inc. in Kent, WA is seeking an Avionics Technician for a 6-12+ month contract. You will assemble, repair, and evaluate electrical and mechanical assemblies for spaceflight systems in the Avionics Hardware Lab, requiring soldering, board work, and wiring.

Job description

We are seeking an Avionics Technician for a 6-12+ month contract in Kent, WA. You will assemble, repair, and evaluate electrical and mechanical assemblies for various spaceflight systems. As part of a team of technicians, you have an impact on all aspects of the production, evaluation, and development of Flight-grade Avionics. You will work in the Avionics Hardware Lab which requires a high level of technical proficiency in work such as soldering, component-level board work, mechanical assembly, and assembly wiring.

Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 5am – 3:30pm OR Friday – Sunday 5am – 5pm

No 3rd parties, compensation is W2 only.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Building different components and assemblies for all groups (development, test and flight).
  • Assisting with assembly of new and updated designs by working directly with engineering to determine best practices for assembly.
  • Giving regular input on manufacturing improvement opportunities or build changes leading to more efficient assembly.
  • Serve both internal and external customers across multiple systems and multiple platforms; each Technician is a valued part of the chain that supports safe human spaceflight.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Familiarity working in an ESD EPA and with tool control/accountability processes.
  • Experience using standard electronics assembly tools, hand soldering and basic electronic test equipment (multimeters and power supplies).
  • Experience with applying torque to fasteners/components.
  • Fabricating, terminating, and repair/testing of wire harnesses.
  • 3 or more years’ experience in Aerospace Avionics or related fields.
  • Experience with application and removal of polymerics (staking, potting. Encapsulation and conformal coating).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of experience in launch vehicle or propulsion system assembly fabrication, CCA or PCBA repair or component replacement.
  • Experience with energized power/high voltage systems, battery systems or RF assemblies.
  • Certification in and/or knowledge of IPC standards for assembly and inspection.
  • J-STD/J-STD Space, 610, 7711/7721 Rework and 620/620 Space Addendum.
  • Experience with documenting non conformances and carrying out dispositioned repairs.
