Job summary

MacKay is seeking an experienced Engineering Project Manager to lead multi-year environmental projects in San Diego, CA, blending project management with technical leadership. This role offers a hybrid schedule and a path to increasing responsibility across aerospace, water treatment, and related sectors.

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years in remediation and water/wastewater design, plus P.E. licensure or reciprocity, and strong client engagement skills.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in soil/groundwater remediation and water/wastewater project design
• Design experience on groundwater or wastewater treatment systems
• At least two years of project management experience
• Ability to obtain California P.E. through reciprocity

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering projects from initiation to completion, including scope, planning, scheduling, budgeting, staffing, invoicing, and delivery.
• Direct engineering design, analyses, and preparation of studies, reports, plans, specifications, cost estimates, calculations, construction documents, submittals, and RFIs for water, wastewater, and groundwater infrastructure projects.
• Ensure QA/QC and regulatory compliance throughout project delivery.
• Serve as primary client contact for coordination with agencies, consultants, contractors, and internal teams.
• Mentor Project Engineers and cross-disciplinary staff while promoting collaboration.
