Job summary

The Sr. Engineering Project Manager at Bachem Americas in Vista, CA leads large-scale capital projects to implement production processes and equipment.

You will ensure design, installation, and qualification align with Bachem global standards, and that start-up activities are executed smoothly. You will train engineers and operations staff to operate and troubleshoot new systems, while managing cross-functional teams and driving on-time, on-budget project delivery.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree with 5+ years of relevant work experience.
• Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of relevant work experience.
• Associate’s degree with 15+ years of relevant work experience.
• Minimum of 8 years pharm/biotech experience.
• Work experience in GMP-related capital projects.
• Knowledge of cGMP, pharmaceutical manufacturing methods and engineering principles.
• Experience with peptides (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Transfer Bachem proprietary manufacturing technology from Switzerland to the Americas.
• Guide equipment implementation and ensure alignment with global standards.
• Lead capital projects for GMP laboratories and equipment; manage AHU, dehumidifiers, chillers, cleanrooms, lyophilizers.
• Lead cross-functional teams (Quality, Production, Facilities, Engineering) in a matrix environment.
• Develop and train employees on maintenance schedules for new equipment.
• Support capital projects for facility remodeling and expansion.
• Design and qualification activities for new and existing equipment used in manufacturing.
• Create process and equipment drawings based on specifications and standards.
• Lead design and construction of plant expansions and capital projects.
• Collaborate with vendors and other departments.
• Prepare GMP documents and SOPs; conduct process development studies.
