Job summary

The Plant Engineer at Bachem Americas acts as the technical leader for the site, responsible for reliability, efficiency and continuous improvement of manufacturing facilities and infrastructure. This role leads maintenance planning and strategy, manages small- and medium-scale projects, and implements improvements in collaboration with Technical Operations, Operational Excellence, and Engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemical or mechanical engineering.
• 6+ years in a GMP-regulated environment.
• 4+ years in a manufacturing facility.
• Collaborate effectively with stakeholders and manage cross-functional interfaces.
• Extensive knowledge of design, construction, engineering, and maintenance of pharmaceutical plants.
• Analytical thinking and strong communication skills.
• Balance cost efficiency with GMP/HSE requirements.
• Knowledge of maintenance strategy, CMMS master data, spare parts.
• Experience with SAP or other ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintain operational readiness of the plant while meeting HSE/GMP requirements.
• Own the maintenance strategy and planning for all production facilities.
• Instruct, organize, implement, and monitor maintenance activities; manage budgets; CMMS data.
• Manage small/medium-scale projects from idea through commissioning.
• Ensure GMP, safety, environmental compliance; proper documentation practices.
• Serve as the first technical contact for the site.
• Monitor ongoing projects and budgets; supervise schedules.
• Drive technical innovations with TechOps and Engineering teams.
