APPLE INC has the following available in Austin, Texas. Supervises five (5) Engineering Program Managers. Accountable for all project delivery related to our data ecosystem. Oversee projects that build out scalable and reliable systems that service core applications, adhering to the highest levels of privacy and security that Apple holds. Work through project dependencies, risks, and deliver measurable outcomes against timelines against an aggressive fiscal roadmap by working closely across many cross-functional teams and negotiating prioritization against work efforts, draw the connection between business and org impact to technical projects on the roadmap, and highlight risks and proposals to the leadership team on order to drive out key decisions that need to be made. This will help ensure that the right details and proposals are highlighted to the leadership team, and help the business deliver products to the customer base and grow. Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating closely with Engineers and Architects to define, refine, and/or refactor approaches designs, and architectures, and draw out relevant prior experiences that have similar circumstances from other projects to address challenges that face the organization. In addition, partner cross-functionally with other Engineering Program Managers, Engineering teams, Product Managers, and Business Operations to drive projects to successful completion by managing daily efforts of those teams, coordinating code dependencies, scheduling releases that do not conflict with each other, and working closely with the business operations team to identify the best timing for release to the market. Grow and lead a team of Engineering Program Managers: hire, manage, and coach a team of Engineering Program Managers to support the Ad Platforms Data Programs. Own the project planning (through identification of relevant projects, identification of dependent components between the projects, sequencing of work efforts for build of software and release, identifying the right mix of engineers that would be required to build the code, and managing the day-to-day progress against the milestones that were identified. Partner with Engineering Program Management, Engineering, and Product teams to identify product and technical requirements, and manage the team effort by coordinating dependencies and delivery milestones for the month, quarter, and fiscal year. A portion of the work will require negotiating the sequencing and timing of delivery with Technology leadership, Product, and Engineering teams and assessing delivery risks, proposing and taking action on mitigations such as recommending the acceleration or delay of code component build, and advancing to the technology leadership team if needed. Develop and implement communication strategies for advising the Ads organization of critical updates, their timing, impacts, and success and failure. Understand and articulate delivery impact to partners such as end consumers, the business, and other Apple teams. Drive delivery improvements and team efficiencies by applying Agile/Scrum methodologies as appropriate. Domestic travel required: 10%. 40 hours/week.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Business Administration, Management Information Systems, Information Technology or related field and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or related occupation.
  • 3 years of experience with each of the following skills is required:
  • People management experience, managing engineering teams or technical project manager teams.
  • Stakeholder communication management, development and management of communication strategies to leadership, partner, and other engineering teams.
  • Leading work efforts that require cross-functional team collaboration.
  • 5 years of experience with each of the following skills is required:
  • Experience with Agile Project Management using scrum or scrum-like methodologies via daily standups, backlog management, sprint burndowns, sprint velocities, and planning of work efforts using sprint cadences to run day to day Scrum teams and manage project backlog.
  • Leading software development in the capacity of a Team Lead, Technical Project Manager, Engineering Manager, Tech Lead, or Product Owner.
  • Engineering Data Pipelines technology such as large distributed data ecosystems that serve low-latency and high-volume data processing workloads.
  • Using Java, SQL, and AWS stack to work alongside Engineers and review designs and artifacts.
