Job summary

Yakima County Public Services, Utilities Division seeks an Engineering Senior Manager II to oversee the County's water and wastewater programs, developing policies, monitoring performance and coordinating contracts for multiple systems.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree with eight years’ experience, including three in supervision, plus Washington PE or ability to obtain within six months. Regular, exempt position; pay range $9,832–$12,470 monthly; open until filled.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and eight years of progressively responsible experience, including three years in a supervisory/managerial capacity.
• Master's Degree in Engineering counts toward one year of experience.
• P.E. certification in Washington State (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
• Valid Washington State driver’s license and proof of insurance if requested.

Responsibilities

• Plans, develops and implements strategies and programs to accomplish Utilities Division goals and objectives.
• Manages the Division's resources—budget, employees and equipment.
• Develops, interprets, monitors, and implements policies and procedures; establishes precedent for the Division's work.
• Supervises staff, assigns work, evaluates performance, and handles discipline.
• Represents the County at meetings, hearings, and bid openings; coordinates with officials and community groups.
• Oversees contracts, agreements and vendor performance; monitors compliance.
• Researches and responds to issues; ensures compliance with laws and regulations.
• Prepares plans for system improvements and funding applications.
• Other duties as required.
