Job summary

Grunau in Oak Creek, WI is seeking an Engineering Manager for the Mechanical Construction division. You will lead design engineers, coordinate with project managers and external partners, and ensure projects are technically sound and deliverable.

This role requires extensive HVAC design experience, leadership, and strong knowledge of codes (IMC, ASHRAE, NFPA). You will mentor staff, set engineering standards, and support business development through design value.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• 15+ years of HVAC mechanical engineering experience.
• Minimum 10 years of leadership or management experience.
• Extensive experience with commercial and industrial HVAC systems.
• Proven experience leading Design-Build and Design-Assist projects.
• Strong understanding of mechanical codes including IMC, ASHRAE, NFPA, and applicable local codes.
• Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and HVAC load calculation software.
• Strong financial understanding of engineering budgets, labor planning, and project profitability.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop junior and design engineers through coaching and education.
• Maintain and manage the engineering design calendar with milestone accountability.
• Prioritize workloads to align with project goals.
• Engage third-party engineering firms to meet business needs.
• Collaborate with sales to support technical strategy and VE.
• Ensure design reviews before proposal and pre-bid phases for accuracy.
• Oversee design-build efforts to meet client expectations.
• Lead training initiatives to maintain industry knowledge.
