Expedia Group is hiring a Senior Manager, Software Development Engineer to join the Lodging Connectivity - Partner Developer Experience team in Austin. You will lead multiple engineering teams, contribute production code, and shape technical direction for external partner integrations.

You will apply AI/ML concepts to real-world products, ensure high standards for reliability and security, and mentor a diverse team to drive ownership and technical excellence across domains.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Level; Technical Degree Preferred.
• 8+ years of relevant professional experience and 3+ years of people management experience.
• Significant experience managing engineers and owning multi-service or domain-level systems in production.
• Proven ownership of complex distributed services with end-to-end responsibility for design, implementation, deployment, and operations.
• Strong background in service-oriented architectures, API design, and data modeling with hands-on leadership.
• Familiarity with AI-driven systems and applying AI/ML concepts to real-world products.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple software engineering teams that design, build, and operate Lodging Connectivity services and partner-facing tools, dedicating ~50% to hands-on work.
• Design and build software systems, contribute production code, and own delivery outcomes.
• Safely integrate AI/ML-enabled solutions within connectivity systems to improve outcomes for partners and travelers.
• Define technical direction across connectivity domains, including API schema design and data modeling.
• Establish and maintain high engineering standards for code quality, observability, reliability, and security.
• Collaborate with product, business, and operations to translate requirements into technical roadmaps.
• Mentor engineers and engineering managers to foster ownership, collaboration, and excellence across domains.
