Job summary

Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield is seeking a Platform Engineer to lead the technical designs for highly integrated application platforms, promoting security, reuse, and performance. You will collaborate with Architects, Product Managers, and engineers to shape solutions and guide modernization initiatives across multiple products and systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or direct and applicable work experience.
• Minimum 7 years of experience including development and IT infrastructure, architecture design, operations.
• Proven ability to adapt to major changes in work tasks or environment.
• Experience coaching/mentoring others to strengthen knowledge and skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical designs for highly integrated complex application platforms to optimize security, information leverage and reuse, integration, performance, and availability and ensure solutions adhere to architecture standards.
• Consult with Solution Architects and project teams in the creation and documentation of design deliverables for application platforms.
• May oversee and lead planning, developing and estimating of technical solutions; collaborate with other technical teams.
• Collaborate with Lead Architect for assigned domain, business systems analyst and other stakeholders to provide insight/direction regarding process improvements.
• Consults with business stakeholders regarding technical planning to ensure architectures align with business expectations.
• Oversee, review and provide technical guidance on design efforts; evaluate vendors and integrate new solutions.
• Support architecture governance standards and provide design specifications for approvals; advise on IT policies, security and infrastructure.
• Provide training and mentorship on technical design and solution implementation; review and QA.
• Build strong relationships with the business to ensure designs meet needs and deliverables.
• Develop and apply best practice technology, design and methods; research new technologies to add value.
• Other duties as assigned.
