Waystar is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer Manager to lead a high-performing team of software engineers and QA professionals.

You will own delivery, quality, and team growth while partnering with product and technology leadership to build award-winning healthcare payment solutions. The role requires hands-on technical leadership, strategic vision, and the ability to drive cohesive, scalable outcomes across services and systems.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software development with web apps and distributed systems.
• 5+ years leading engineering teams and people management.
• Deep cloud-native architecture experience for scalable services.
• Backend systems with REST/GraphQL and event-driven design.
• Frontend experience with TypeScript frameworks.
• Hands-on with Java/Spring, Postgres, and distributed tools.
• Experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and IaC tools.
• Observability and modern CI/CD practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day execution of an engineering team delivering high-quality software.
• Mentor engineers, manage performance, and drive career development.
• Partner with Product and Design to define priorities and roadmaps.
• Own delivery outcomes balancing speed, quality, and scale.
• Provide technical leadership across services and systems.
• Promote modern engineering practices and operational excellence.
• Collaborate with peers and stakeholders to align priorities.
• Support agile ceremonies and delivery processes.
• Help Hire, grow, and retain top engineers.
