Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to architect scalable front-end solutions across web and mobile platforms, guiding a team of engineers while delivering high-impact healthcare digital experiences.

You will drive architectural governance, code quality, and performance optimization in a remote US-based role, with in-office days in the Schaumburg, IL area as needed. Strong AI, REST/GraphQL, and CI tooling experience are highly valued.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience building scalable web and mobile apps.
• 5+ years of React.js and React Native development.
• 3+ years of technical leadership including code reviews and mentoring engineers.
• Experience integrating RESTful and GraphQL APIs into front-end apps.
• Experience with full-stack stacks including Java, Node.js, or Next.js.
• Experience releasing apps to Apple App Store and Google Play Console.
• Experience driving modern tooling, CI automation, or enterprise AI capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Architect scalable front-end solutions across web and mobile ecosystems.
• Establish monorepo strategies to maximize development speed.
• Define and scale micro-product and API ecosystems powering web and mobile channels.
• Provide hands-on leadership with code reviews and coding standards.
• Oversee performance optimization of web and mobile apps.
• Implement testing infrastructure for unit, integration, and E2E tests.
• Collaborate with UI/UX and backend teams on RESTful/GraphQL APIs.
• Manage deployment lifecycle across web hosting and mobile stores.
• Champion enterprise AI capabilities and ethical AI practices.
