Job summary

JPMorgan Chase & Co. is seeking a Manager of Software Engineering to lead multiple teams within Card Technology. You will guide day-to-day engineering activities, ensure compliance with standards, and translate complex problems into practical architectures.

You will stay hands-on, review code, and build MVPs to de-risk major directions. The role emphasizes AI-assisted development, SDLC automation, and cross-team collaboration to accelerate delivery while maintaining security and governance

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience, plus coaching/mentoring experience.
• Experience leading technology projects and managing technologists.
• Experience leading responsible adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and delivery tools, including defining ways of working, measuring outcomes, and ensuring secure data handling.
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, resiliency and governance expectations; ability to coach engineers.
• Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.
• Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.
• Demonstrated ability to assess unfamiliar design/code quickly and identify what matters.
• Experience with code review and validation of human and AI-generated code, and building working prototypes.
• Proven stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
• Advanced proficiency with modern AI-assisted development—agents, MCP, prompting, RAG, and memory.

Responsibilities

• Guides the software engineering team on daily tasks and aligns multiple teams on practical platform designs.
• Sets guidance and expectations for team output and collaboration across teams.
• Drives adoption of AI-assisted development and SDLC/TLM automation with human validation and security.
• Utilizes the SDLC toolchain to improve automation value and capacity unlock initiatives.
• Anticipates dependencies to deliver products meeting business requirements.
• Manages stakeholder relationships within compliance and SLA requirements.
• Stays hands-on at a senior level by reviewing code, validating AI output, and building MVPs.
