Job summary

HDI Global Insurance Company in Chicago, IL, seeks an experienced Engineering Lines Executive Underwriter to lead profitable portfolio development across engineering lines and Builders Risk, driven by technical underwriting expertise and disciplined risk assessment.

You will negotiate terms with brokers, build strategic relationships, mentor junior underwriters, and collaborate with a global team to drive growth for multinational programs in the Central US.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in Engineering Lines and Builders Risk underwriting.
• Deep expertise in CAR/EAR projects, CPE/CPM, DSU, and MBRs.
• Proven ability to analyze complex risks and make sound underwriting decisions.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills, ideally with a network in Central US.
• Experience with large industrial clients and multinational programs highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite Engineering Lines and Builders Risk within delegated authority.
• Negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing for profitability.
• Build and maintain broker and client relationships; represent the company at meetings.
• Identify new business opportunities and support growth strategies.
• Manage and monitor portfolio performance; take corrective actions as needed.
• Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines, pricing tools, and governance standards.
• Work collaboratively in a global team.
• Mentor junior underwriters and contribute to product development and market strategies
