Job summary

HDI Global Insurance Company in Chicago, IL seeks an Executive Underwriter for Workers’ Compensation and admitted casualty to lead multi-line primary casualty underwriting, pricing, and risk evaluation for GL, Auto, and WC. Build broker partnerships and guide portfolio strategy.

You will underwrite, price, and structure complex risks, mentor junior underwriters, and partner with Claims, Actuarial, and Operations to drive growth and profitability in a dynamic build-mode environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience.
• 7+ years of underwriting experience in the primary casualty space.
• Proven track record underwriting multi-line primary casualty (GL, Auto, Workers’ Compensation) on guaranteed cost and loss sensitive programs.
• Strong broker relationships with a proven ability to generate new business.
• Demonstrated profitability management within defined underwriting authority.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and broker management skills.
• Self-motivated, comfortable operating in a dynamic build-mode environment.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite, price, and manage multi-line primary casualty risks (GL, Auto, WC) on both guaranteed cost and loss-sensitive programs.
• Evaluate exposures, loss history, risk transfer, and jurisdictional trends to develop sound pricing and structure.
• Structure attachment points, retentions, and limits aligned with portfolio strategy and treaty parameters.
• Document underwriting rationale for non-standard structures and authority exceptions.
• Leverage broker relationships to generate a steady pipeline of new business opportunities.
• Negotiate pricing, structure, and terms while maintaining underwriting integrity.
• Collaborate with Claims, Actuarial, Loss Control, and Operations to deliver integrated solutions.
