Job summary

Delano Miami Beach invites a strategic Director of Engineering to lead the hotel's engineering department, overseeing maintenance, safety, and systems performance to uphold high luxury standards.

You will partner with senior management, manage budgets, supervise engineers, and drive energy management and project initiatives across the property.

This role requires a college degree, significant hands-on experience, and a proven ability to lead teams in a fast-paced upscale hospitality environment.

Qualifications

• College degree in Business, Hospitality, or related field preferred.
• 5+ years hands-on maintenance experience with 3+ years supervisory in upscale hotel.
• Strong leadership and a hands-on, energetic management style.
• Proficient with Opera, MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to use computers/POS systems to enter and locate information.
• Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork.
• Able to multitask in fast-paced environment; strong attention to detail.
• Willingness to work flexible hours and outdoors/indoors as needed.
• Knowledge of EEO laws, safety, wage and hour issues, labor relations.
• Maintain neat and well-groomed appearance per guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain relationships with senior management, staff and partners to support engineering/facility management.
• Develop and implement short and long-term strategies for facility management and engineering.
• Define, maintain, and improve service levels and support models to protect capital investments.
• Manage operating and capital budgets for repairs, maintenance, and engineering projects.
• Oversee third-party vendors to ensure scope, schedule, budget, service levels, and quality.
• Ensure workplace health and safety compliance with local laws and policies.
• Provide technical expertise on building systems and energy management.
• Lead project management for construction and facility improvements, including contracts.
• Supervise the engineering team with prioritization and scheduling.
• Maintain hotel systems and records for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety.
• Collaborate with other departments to improve efficiency, sustainability, and guest satisfaction.
