Job summary

The Mullings Group partners with a fast rising medtech solutions partner to lead concept design and production for spinal and extremity implants. You will personally develop machining strategies on Hermle 5-axis milling and Traub turning platforms, then build and mentor a dedicated engineering team as the department grows.

This role blends hands-on machining leadership with strategic lab development, from CAD to production in record time, with emphasis on speed, creativity, and manufacturing

Qualifications

  • 5–10 years in advanced CNC machining or orthopedic implant manufacturing.
  • Hands-on with 5-axis milling (Hermle preferred) and precision turning (Traub or Swiss-style preferred).
  • Experience machining titanium, cobalt chrome, and stainless orthopedic implants.
  • Spine and extremities manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong grasp of DFM, workholding, fixturing, and process optimization.
  • Entrepreneurial builder who thrives with autonomy in a fast-moving, early-stage environment.

Responsibilities

  • Standing up our client's engineering lab from scratch: facility layout, machine selection, and workflow development.
  • Proving out machining strategies for difficult geometries and demanding tolerances.
  • Fixture development, cutting strategy optimization, and cycle time improvement.
  • Transitioning development projects into serial production.
  • Building and mentoring a high-performance engineering team over time.
