Qualifications

• PhD preferred; Master degree preferred; Bachelor’s degree required in engineering or related field.
• Engineering field directly related to core, strategic technologies.

Responsibilities

• Serves as a role model for engineers and provides discipline stewardship.
• Develops and applies innovative design methods and research techniques for extremely complex problems.
• Uses superior knowledge to research and investigate technical problems and propose solutions.
• Monitors methods for efficacy and continuous improvement and quality control.
• Acts as Technical Lead for the most complex projects and may support other locations.
• Provides technical leadership for work-teams including cross-functional members.
• Collaborates with Business Development and Marketing to attract new business.
• Coordinates workflow between engineers and technical support staff.
• Conducts investigations and tests as directed by senior management.
• Reviews literature, patents and current practices related to projects.
• Evaluates vendor capabilities to provide complex products or services.
• Provides technical consultation to on-site Executive Management and other locations.
• Leads technical resources for independent reviews and acts as a national/international expert.
• Organizes conferences/workshops to raise discipline awareness.
• Reports state of discipline to leadership and captures lessons learned for standards.
• Leads teams and collaborates with researchers from academia and other centers.
• Communicates engineering findings through publications and seminars.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
