Job summary

Sr Engineering Documentation Specialist at KBR supports NASA GSFC SGSLR system design, development, testing, and deployment. You will create, update, and review technical design, operation, maintenance, and drawing documents, while mentoring junior writers.

Role requires a bachelor's degree and 8+ years of engineering technical writing, with proficiency in MS Office, Visio, and Adobe Acrobat Pro. Occasional travel and eligibility for CAC are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required in a related field.
• 8+ years of engineering-related technical writing experience.
• Equivalent related experience accepted in lieu of formal education.
• Ability to read & edit engineering drawings, blueprints, wiring diagrams and schematics.
• Proven ability to prepare draft material for internal review by SMEs and final customer review.
• Flexible and able to adapt to new information and programs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with video training and capturing images (photo manipulation).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, Visio & Adobe Acrobat Pro.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside engineers to create design, operations, maintenance, & drawing documents for systems.
• Create new and update legacy documents.
• Write, revise, standardize, edit, review, and finalize documents using engineering data and manuals.
• Research and update content for printed manuals, CDRLs, I-types, and OEM documents.
• Gather and research technical information for documentation activities and prepare drafts for internal review and customer final review.
• Lead, coach and mentor junior technical writing staff.
• Be flexible with work hours to support surge situations and travel as required.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder and able to obtain CAC; passport for international travel may be required.
