Job summary

Luminate, a Denver-based technical consultancy, seeks a Manager/Director for traditional power consulting to lead client engagements across development, financing, construction, and operation of power projects. You will marshal technical judgment, financial insight, and client collaboration to drive informed decisions throughout project lifecycles.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in power, energy, infrastructure, or renewable energy industries.
  • 10+ years in technical consulting, project development, engineering, or related traditional power technologies.

  • Experience working directly with clients and senior project stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of power project development, design, contracting, construction, and/or operations.
  • Familiarity with industry codes, standards, regulations, and commercial practices.
  • Excellent analytical, written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Business development and proposal preparation experience.

Manager / Director, Traditional Power Consultant

Luminate is seeking an experienced power and energy professional to join our Client Services team in a senior consulting role focused on traditional power and broader energy infrastructure.

This is an opportunity for an accomplished consultant, project developer, engineer, or industry professional who brings strong technical judgment, commercial perspective, and a genuine interest in working directly with clients. You will help lead advisory and due diligence assignments for developers, investors, lenders, utilities, and other participants across power and energy markets. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to evaluate complex projects, identify and communicate risks, and help clients make informed decisions at critical points in the project lifecycle.

Title and scope of responsibility will be aligned with experience and capabilities.

What You’ll Do

You will lead and contribute to client engagements involving the development, financing, acquisition, construction, and operation of traditional power, renewables, storage and other energy infrastructure projects. Your work may include:

  • Technical, commercial, and financial due diligence for project financing and M&A transactions
  • Project development and financial advisory
  • Evaluation of project design, technology, engineering, and development plans
  • Review and analysis of EPC, O&M, equipment supply, and other project agreements
  • Assessment of project schedules, budgets, construction plans, and execution strategies
  • Construction and commissioning monitoring
  • Performance testing and operational assessments
  • Review of financial models, project pro forma models, and commercial assumptions
  • Evaluation of environmental permitting and regulatory considerations
  • Identification, evaluation, and communication of technical and commercial project risks
  • Preparation and presentation of client reports, proposals, and other technical deliverables
  • Direct interaction with developers, contractors, investors, lenders, utilities, governmental agencies, and other project stakeholders
  • Development and maintenance of strong, long-term client relationships
  • Mentoring and development of junior and mid-level consultants
  • Supporting business development activities, including identifying opportunities, developing proposals, and expanding existing client relationships

You will have significant autonomy and client exposure, while working alongside experienced professionals who bring deep expertise across the power and energy sector.

Qualifications
  • 15+ years of experience in the power, energy, infrastructure, or renewable energy industries
  • 10+ years of technical consulting, project development, engineering, or related experience in traditional/thermal power technologies (e.g., gas turbines, steam turbines, reciprocating engines)
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex projects and leading multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience working directly with clients and senior project stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of power project development, design, contracting, construction, and/or operations
  • Familiarity with applicable industry codes, standards, regulations, and commercial practices
  • Excellent analytical, technical, written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple engagements, priorities, and deadlines
  • Business development and proposal preparation experienceli>
  • A collaborative approach and demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline; advanced degree preferred
  • Professional certification, such as a PE, is a plus
  • Willingness to travel periodically for client meetings and to project sites
