Delta Air Lines, Inc. is seeking a Senior Engineer in Atlanta to support turbofan engine MRO activities within TechOps Repair Engineering.
You will translate initiatives into action, prioritize work with limited guidance, and lead repair development, process engineering, and production shop support for engine components. The role requires a Bachelor’s in Aerospace/Mechanical/Manufacturing or Materials, with 3+ years of relevant experience, strong project management, leadership, and communication
How you'll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)
This SrEngineer position operates within the Delta TechOps’ Repair EngineeringOrganization. This position providestechnical support for turbofan engine MRO (Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul)activities in one or more areas; Repair Development, New Product Introduction,Process Engineering, or Engine Production Shop Support. Successful applicants for this position willneed to translate initiatives into actions and use intra-departmental goals toprioritize work with limited guidance.
Responsibilitiesinclude:Work directly with engine maintenance, engineering teammembers, and engineering management to develop repair and process solutions forturbofan engine components
Evaluate damage conditions on turbofan engine componentsto develop and substantiate repairs and implement processimprovements/solutions
Define scope of work for development projects, includingequipment, tooling and labor requirements
Establish and maintain schedules that achieve definedobjectives, including breakdown of tasks and associated resources fromconceptualization to industrialization
Work directly with OEMs to secure Source-Repair approvalfor Delta TechOps
Collaborate with Delta’s SMEs and ODA to developsubstantiation and regulatory compliance plans
Direct engineering team members to perform testing,calculations and industrialization of repair design
Organize and/or prepare all relevant reports, drawings,and engineering authorizations for assigned projects
Assist in the formulation of business case justificationsand bids to bring to MRO work into Delta TechOps
Engage in the development of lesser experienced engineers
What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)
Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical,Manufacturing, or Material Science Engineering from an accredited institutionwith 3 years or more of relevant industry experience
Project management experience; strong relationshipmanagement skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills;multi-tasking abilities; proven results-orientation; and strong analytical, organizationaland time management skills
Strong leadership attributes, with the ability to influence andgain support via mutual respect
Basic Computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point)
High School diploma or GED equivalent

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)
An advanced degree Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace/Aeronautical,Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Material Science Engineering from an accreditedinstitution with 5+ years or more of relevant industry experience
2 years industry experience credited for a Master’sdegree, in the listed disciplines
3 years industry experience credited for a PHD in thelisted disciplines
Experience with the repair or design of gas turbine or turbofanengine components and repair concepts typically used in repair/manufacturing(e.g. machining, welding, heat treatment, brazing, cleaning, plating andcoatings)
Previous Airline, OEM or MRO experience with commercialaircraft engines
Familiarity with airline flight operations and supportsystems, 14 CFR 121 and 14 CFR 145 repair station regulations
Six Sigma (GB/BB), Lean Manufacturing, or PMPcertification
