This Sr Engineer position operates within the Delta TechOps’ Repair Engineering Organization. This position provides technical support for turbofan engine MRO (Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul) activities in one or more areas; Repair Development, New Product Introduction, Process Engineering, or Engine Production Shop Support. Successful applicants for this position will need to translate initiatives into actions and use intra-departmental goals to prioritize work with limited guidance.
Responsibilities Include
- Work directly with engine maintenance, engineering team members, and engineering management to develop repair and process solutions for turbofan engine components
- Evaluate damage conditions on turbofan engine components to develop and substantiate repairs and implement process improvements/solutions
- Define scope of work for development projects, including equipment, tooling and labor requirements
- Establish and maintain schedules that achieve defined objectives, including breakdown of tasks and associated resources from conceptualization to industrialization
- Work directly with OEMs to secure Source-Repair approval for Delta TechOps
- Collaborate with Delta’s SMEs and ODA to develop substantiation and regulatory compliance plans
- Direct engineering team members to perform testing, calculations and industrialization of repair design
- Organize and/or prepare all relevant reports, drawings, and engineering authorizations for assigned projects
- Assist in the formulation of business case justifications and bids to bring to MRO work into Delta TechOps
- Engage in the development of lesser experienced engineers
What You Need To Succeed (Minimum Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Material Science Engineering from an accredited institution with 3 years or more of relevant industry experience
- Project management experience; strong relationship management skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills; multi-tasking abilities; proven results-orientation; and strong analytical, organizational and time management skills
- Strong leadership attributes, with the ability to influence and gain support via mutual respect
- Basic Computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point)
- High School diploma or GED equivalent

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- An advanced degree Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace/Aeronautical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Material Science Engineering from an accredited institution with 5+ years or more of relevant industry experience
- 2 years industry experience credited for a Master’s degree, in the listed disciplines
- 3 years industry experience credited for a PHD in the listed disciplines
- Experience with the repair or design of gas turbine or turbofan engine components and repair concepts typically used in repair/manufacturing (e.g. machining, welding, heat treatment, brazing, cleaning, plating and coatings)
- Previous Airline, OEM or MRO experience with commercial aircraft engines
- Familiarity with airline flight operations and support systems, 14 CFR 121 and 14 CFR 145 repair station regulations
- Six Sigma (GB/BB), Lean Manufacturing, or PMP certification
