Job summary

Xcel Energy Inc. is seeking a Staff/Senior/Principal Engineer to support renewable generation development, focusing on utility‑scale solar projects.

You will lead development‑phase engineering, site layout optimization, and due diligence, partnering with development, commercial, environmental, and transmission teams to ensure technically sound, executable projects. The role involves acting as a SME, advancing new principles, and guiding major projects from concept through execution.

Qualifications

ABET‑accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required or equivalent.
EIT/FE strongly preferred for early career growth.
Demonstrated broad knowledge in engineering with ability to lead complex projects.

Responsibilities

Lead engineering activities for early to mid‑stage solar development projects.
Perform concept development, site layout optimization and technical due diligence.
Evaluate energy and cost estimates and support bid and RFP processes.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to project teams and stakeholders.
Coordinate with cross‑functional teams to ensure sound, executable project outcomes.
