Job summary

Cullerton Group in Chicago, IL is seeking a Staff Engineer – Robotic Welding Systems to lead development and standardization of advanced manufacturing equipment. You will drive torque-controlled assembly systems, integration with MES/ERP, and continuous improvement initiatives.

This role requires 8+ years of manufacturing engineering experience, strong project leadership, and onsite work with occasional travel. Competitive salary and annual incentive plan available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical Engineering or related field, with relevant experience.
• 8+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in high-volume, high-mix or semi-automated environments.
• Proven experience designing and implementing manufacturing processes and equipment.
• Strong knowledge of Lean Six Sigma, value stream mapping, DFMA, and manufacturing systems design.
• Experience leading complex engineering projects from concept through commissioning, validation, and sustainment.
• Strong technical problem-solving, project management and cross-functional communication skills.
• Ability to work onsite in Chicago, IL, and travel occasionally as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of advanced manufacturing equipment and torque-controlled assembly systems.
• Manage equipment specification, vendor selection, procurement, installation, programming, commissioning, and validation.
• Integrate torque monitoring systems with MES, ERP, and industrial data collection platforms.
• Develop standardized manufacturing procedures, equipment programming parameters, calibration processes, and preventive maintenance plans.
• Lead complex engineering projects from concept through implementation and production sustainment.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Operations, Maintenance, Product Engineering, and IT teams.
• Apply Lean Six Sigma, DFMA, and continuous improvement methodologies to enhance productivity, quality, and equipment reliability.
• Support manufacturing process standardization across multiple facilities.
