Job summary

Venteon seeks a 2nd Shift Welding Engineer to support the Chicago, IL area. The role sits on the client’s engineering team, reports to the Engineering Manager, and offers full-time permanent employment with bonus potential and solid benefits.

The engineer will specify welding systems, develop preventive maintenance for welding equipment and robotics, optimize weld parameters, design welding methods, assist QA, and collaborate with manufacturing to solve weld issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in weld/robotics engineering or equivalent.
• CWI and CWE certification.
• Minimum three years in manual and automated welding or joining processes.
• Experience with MIG welding, robotic welding, and material handling.
• Knowledge of electrical/controls schematics and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Specify welding equipment, consumables, electrical and mechanical systems and robotics for welding.
• Develop preventative maintenance procedures for welding equipment and robots.
• Evaluate weld parameters and improve weld efficiency.
• Design and test welding methods, materials, and processes.
• Assist QA in maintaining weld integrity.
• Interface with manufacturing and maintenance to resolve welding issues.
• Participate in root cause analysis and 8D/problem solving activities.

2ND SHIFT WELDING ENGINEER NEEDED - CHICAGO, ILLINOIS

A Leading Automotive Supplier near Chicago, Illinois needs a 2nd Shift Welding Engineer. This Position is part of the Clients Engineering Team and Reports to the Engineering Manager. This is a Full Time, Permanent, Direct Hire Position offering Competitive Compensation, Bonus Potential, Good Benefits, Paid Holidays and Paid Vacation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Specify welding equipment, welding consumables, electrical and mechanical systems, robotic systems, and any related components associated with the welding process.
• Recommend and develop preventative maintenance procedures for all plant welding equipment including robotic systems.
• Evaluate processes and procedures to maintain or improve weld parameters and weld efficiency.
• Design, develop and test welding methods, materials, processes, and results.
• Assist Quality Assurance department in maintaining weld integrity.
• Interface with manufacturing and maintenance to resolve welding and welding system issues.
• Participate in root cause analysis and team problem solving activities (ex. 8D reports, department meetings, etc.).

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor s Degree in weld/robotics engineering or equivalent, CWI, CWE.
• Minimum three (3) years of related technical, hands-on experience in manual and automated welding or joining processes.
• Working knowledge of MIG welding processes Knowledge in robotic welding and programming, and material handling applications.
• Understanding of electrical/controls circuitry and schematics.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and weld drawings Knowledge of NEC, OSHA and machine safety, electrical safety, robotic safety, and machine guarding components.
• Weld power source, wire feeder, torch, and reamer Plasma cutting, grinding and rework applications.
• Weld shielding gas technologies.
• Electrical enclosures and power requirements for welding or Gas metal arc and resistance spot welding.
• Computer literacy and good knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
• Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
