MP Materials in Fort Worth, TX, is seeking a hands-on Senior Engineer to lead development and optimization of precision machining processes and dimensional control strategies for high‑performance rare earth permanent magnets.

The role requires deep GD&T expertise (ASME Y14.5), SPC and process capability analysis, plus hands‑on experience machining brittle materials. You will design fixtures, analyze data, mentor engineers, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • BS in mechanical/manufacturing engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years in precision machining and dimensional control of brittle materials.
  • Proficient in GD&T, blueprint reading, tolerance stack‑up, and DFM.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and optimization of machining processes for magnets with tight tolerances.
  • Apply ASME Y14.5 GD&T to ensure geometry, flatness, squareness, concentricity, and perpendicularity.
  • Review drawings, develop manufacturability improvements, prototypes, and process changes.
  • Analyze machining data (Cpk/Ppk, gauge R&R, SPC) to monitor capability.
  • Design fixtures, jigs, and tooling for brittle magnet materials.
  • Mentor engineers and technicians in GD&T, statistics, and machining best practices.
