Job summary

Orange County Sanitation District is seeking a Senior Engineer in Planning – Collections to lead complex engineering planning, design, and capital projects for wastewater facilities and assets. The role requires directing project life cycles, budgets, and contractor management, while providing guidance to junior engineers.

The position emphasizes asset management, advanced analysis, and collaboration with Operations, Maintenance, and management to ensure safe, compliant, and innovative solutions

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, mechanical, chemical, electrical, or environmental engineering.
• Six (6) years of professional engineering experience.
• Valid California Class C Driver’s License.
• Valid California Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.

Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in complex engineering assignments for planning, design, construction, operations, and compliance of wastewater facilities and programs.
• Manage major capital projects through all phases of the project management life cycle.
• Provide guidance and training to engineering staff; act as SME to management.
• Oversee project scopes, budgets, schedules, and procurement; coordinate with Board and stakeholders.
• Develop asset management planning, data analysis, and long-term capital programs.
• Review plans, specifications, and contracts; manage consultants and contractors.
