Job summary

Orange County Sanitation District is seeking a Senior Construction Inspector to oversee construction work on plant, collection, and pump station facilities. You will verify compliance with plans, specifications, codes, and OSHA safety rules, while advising contractors and project teams on inspection and safety practices.

You will coordinate activities with project managers and engineers, maintain comprehensive daily reports, and support change orders, pay estimates, and design reviews.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D. with specialized training in engineering technology, construction inspection, or related field.
• Five years of progressively responsible experience performing construction inspections on large public works projects.
• California Class C Driver’s License is required.
• Certifications in ACI, ACIA, APWA CPII, ICC Building/Plumbing/Mechanical, NASSCO ITCP, NACE CIP, AWS are desirable.
• Ability to work well alone and in a team; effective communication with staff, stakeholders, and the public.

Responsibilities

• Inspect highly complex plant and collection facilities construction work to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, codes, regulations and OSHA safety requirements.
• Advise contractors, project teams, management, and staff on inspection and workplace safety standards.
• Coordinate with project managers and engineers on inspection activities.
• Maintain daily inspection reports, field test results, change orders, extra work requests, and photo logs.
• Provide technical input on change orders, pay estimates, design and submittal reviews; maintain as‑built drawings.
• Inspect sewer collections, treatment plant, and pump station projects including trunk lines, pipes, pumps, and related systems.
• Attend meetings, schedule start-ups/shutdowns, tie-ins; witness required tests.
