Job summary

UL LLC is seeking a Principal Engineer - Physical AI to lead AI assurance for physical products and cyber-physical systems. You will shape standards, certification programs and verification methodologies, translating evolving regulations into auditable requirements, while partnering with R&D, product and field teams to drive scalable safety and trust solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical discipline.
• 15+ years in robotics, autonomous systems, embedded systems or related fields.
• 5+ years with AI-enabled physical systems and robotics.
• Hands-on experience in AI-enabled physical systems in real-world settings.
• Knowledge of robot safety, cyber-physical risks and evaluation methods.
• Familiarity with robotics, safety, cybersecurity, and AI governance standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of AI assurance for physical products and systems.
• Define tests, criteria and criteria for certification and evaluation.
• Translate regulations and needs into auditable requirements and offerings.
