Job summary

AltaMed Health Services Corp. is seeking a Senior IT Security Engineer to identify, evaluate, and implement controls to prevent, detect, contain, and respond to threats.

You will analyze threats using security technologies and guide configurations across servers, endpoints, and OT/IoT devices. The role leads security projects, develops strategies, and collaborates across technology and business units to ensure policy-aligned operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or information security required (Master's preferred).
• Minimum 5 years in IT security with 3 years in a lead/architect role.
• Active information security credential required (e.g., CISSP, CISM, GIAC/SANS, etc.).

Job Overview

The Senior IT Security Engineer is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and implementing technical security controls to prevent, detect, contain, and respond to information security threats, which include supporting the technology efforts of AltaMed. This person is required to analyze threats using a variety of security technologies, including email filtering, anti-malware, access control, phishing detection, Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB)/web filtering, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention, data loss prevention, and data encryption. Reviews and guides security configuration of a variety of applications and endpoint systems, including servers, desktops, network devices, and Internet of Things (IOT)/Operational Technology (OT) devices. Required to lead projects and project teams within and outside the security department. Must maintain an in-depth understanding of current and emerging security threats, recommending technical and process improvements to protect against such threats. This individual also assists in the development and maintenance of information security strategies and will be required to provide support across other technology and business units, ensuring the implementation and operation of the appropriate security controls across the organization are aligned with Information Security policies and standards.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Security, or related field required. (Master's preferred). Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in IT security, including 3 years of experience in a lead role with responsibility for architecture design and implementation. Direct hands-on experience in enterprise cybersecurity, demonstrating technical proficiency. An active information security credential (e.g., CISSP, CISM, GIAC/SANS, Palo Alto PCNSE, CyberArk CDE, SailPoint Certified Engineer, Microsoft Security Associate, or Cisco CCNA/CCNP Security/XDR specialist) is required.

Compensation

$110,539.52 - $138,174.40 annually

Actual salary offers are considered by various factors, including budget, experience, skills, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. The range is subject to change. AltaMed is committed to ensuring a fair and competitive compensation package that reflects the candidate's value and the role's strategic importance within the organization. This role may also qualify for discretionary bonuses or incentives.
