Job summary

Microchip Technology Inc. in Austin, TX is seeking a Senior Engineer I-Test to develop test programs for timing-based products including SyncE/1588 timing, clock distribution and frequency synthesizers.

Qualifications

• Bachelors or Masters in Electrical, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science with 5+ years developing ATE test programs for ICs.
• Extensive knowledge of semiconductors, statistics, analog/digital circuit theory and IC testing.
• Must have experience with ATE systems.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to excel in a multi-disciplinary team across locations.

Responsibilities

• Generate test programs for timing-based products (SyncE/1588 timing, clock distribution, frequency synthesizers).
• Define and develop high-speed, low-noise ATE test boards.
• Review product specs and advise on manufacturability for timing-based products.
• Collaborate with applications, marketing, product and reliability groups for new releases.
• Establish manufacturing guard-bands based on repeatability; use characterization data.
• Support customer sampling and offshore production ramps.
• Support subcontractor test activity and test capacity optimization.
• Analyze customer returns and support requirements; characterize new products.

Microchip Technology Inc. has a Senior Engineer I-Test opening based in our Austin, TX office. The Timing and Communication Product Group (TCG) is seeking a self-motivated test engineer to develop test programs and assist in test development for product releases of SyncE/1588 timing, Clock Distribution and Frequency Synthesizers. The successful candidate will participate in all aspects of product and test development, from initial specification through volume manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Generating test programs for timing-based products
• Define and develop high speed low noise ATE test boards
• Review new product specifications, advise design teams on product manufacturability for timing-based products
• Work with applications, marketing, product and reliability groups, for the release of new products, monitoring goals and schedules
• Establish manufacturing guard-bands based on repeatability and characterization data
• Support customer sampling and offshore volume production ramps
• Support ongoing subcontractor test activity
• Product cost reduction, yield improvement, and test capacity maximization
• Analysis of Customer returned devices and supporting Customer requirements
• Characterize and evaluate new products

Requirements / Qualifications

• Bachelor's/Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science with 5+ years of experience developing ATE test programs for integrated circuits
• Extensive knowledge of semiconductors, statistics, analog and digital circuit theory and circuit analysis, and semiconductor IC testing
• Must have experience with ATE systems
• Self-motivated and able to work independently
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Ability to excel in a multi-disciplinary team environment across multiple locations
• Strong analytical, and problem-solving skills

• ATE programming using Advantest Smartest and Cohu Unison programming environments
