Job summary

Microchip Technology Inc is seeking a Senior Engineer I - Component to support development, qualification, and management of critical suppliers and components in advanced manufacturing and semiconductor assemblies. This role fits a Mechanical Engineer with a strong Materials Science background who thrives in engineering, supplier quality, and manufacturing processes.

You will drive reliability, supplier performance, and material/process integrity, review drawings and specs, lead supplier audits

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Materials Engineering, or related field
• 5–7 years of experience in engineering, supplier quality and manufacturing
• Strong background in materials science and process–material interactions

Responsibilities

• Lead supplier qualification, audits, and capability assessments for new and existing vendors
• Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships with a focus on continuous improvement, lead times and risk mitigation
• Review and approve drawings, specifications, and material/process requirements
• Lead or support root cause investigations related to supplier quality issues
• Develop and maintain specifications, qualification reports, and supplier documentation
• Ensure compliance with MIL, IPC and other standards
