Senior Engineer I, Onshore Wind Turbine Systems

The Senior Engineer I, Onshore Wind Turbine Systems will be responsible for assessing wind turbine generator (WTG) technology and supporting procurement through pre-selection assessment, technical negotiations, and due diligence. This role supports project development and acts as the main technical interface to commercial teams.

Role Responsibilities:

  1. Lead technical procurement for WTGs in onshore wind projects, including tendering and offer evaluation.
  2. Develop technical requirements for WTG RFPs in collaboration with engineering and project stakeholders.
  3. Negotiate project contracts with OEMs, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.
  4. Perform turbine due diligence and reporting, coordinating with engineering, construction, and operations.
  5. Maintain a technical risk/opportunity registry and mitigation strategies.
  6. Serve as the technical interface between commercial teams, managing technical information and assessments.
  7. Participate in technical discussions with OEMs and consultants, validating reports and evaluations.
  8. Support project execution teams during construction, focusing on risk mitigation.
  9. Plan and support power performance testing.
  10. Research industry developments in onshore WTG technology.
  11. Evaluate new technologies for potential adoption to support growth.
  12. Develop tools and methods to support departmental goals.
  13. Drive process improvements within the team.

Job Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in electrical, civil, mechanical engineering or related; Master’s preferred.
  2. At least 8 years of experience in wind turbine technologies.
  3. Experience with technical contracting and project management in wind or infrastructure projects.
  4. Expertise in wind turbine engineering, especially major components and subsystems.
  5. Ability to align technical and commercial project objectives.
  6. Knowledge of international standards like IEC 61400 and DNV GL.
  7. Strong organizational and confidentiality skills.
  8. Proven results in complex, deadline-driven projects.
  9. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  10. Knowledge of wind yield assessment software (WindPRO, Windographer, CFD, etc.); willingness to travel (<25%).

This position is primarily office-based with some travel to project sites and offices.

Salary Range: $117,700 - $177,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
