Sr Engineer, Electrical Project Engineering

Role Overview

The Senior Engineer of Electrical Project Engineering oversees the electrical systems design for onshore wind, solar, and storage projects in development.

Responsibilities

1. Design of balance of plant packages during development
2. Support for engineering projects during pre-construction, construction, and turnover to Operations
3. Ensure grid code compliance and interconnection requirements
4. Specification and evaluation of major balance of plant electrical equipment
5. Conduct power system modeling and studies
6. Coordinate project engineering topics during construction
7. Manage third-party engineering consultants
8. Collaborate with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts throughout the project lifecycle
9. Incorporate health, safety, and environmental protections into designs and standards
10. Support development of electrical engineering standards and processes

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
• At least 5 years of professional experience in electrical engineering
• Experience in transmission design, substation design, collection/distribution design, equipment specification, power system studies, and system protection/control
• Preferred experience in renewable energy projects (wind, solar PV, BESS storage)
• Strong interpersonal, leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Teams
• Ability to manage multiple tasks independently and as part of a team
• Self-motivated, goal-oriented, with problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills with diverse backgrounds
• Detail-oriented with strong business acumen

Additional Information

This position is office-based with some travel. Candidates must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range in Illinois: $136,000 - $203,000. Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Disability, 401(k), FSA, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid Time Off, Holidays, and participation in short-term incentives.
