ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Supervises a team which may include graduate engineers, engineers-in-training, engineers, technicians, and/or operators. This includes managing workload, professional development, and other personnel management tasks.
- Oversees quality assurance for engineering tasks in the areas of design, construction oversight, and/or analysis.
- Performs engineering analysis, design, and permitting for civil or environmental projects which may include wastewater treatment and collection systems, civil site design, and/or nature-based solutions for storm water. Mentors staff on best practice, troubleshooting, and resolving complex issues.
- Conducts engineering evaluations and feasibility studies for wastewater, civil, and/or nature-based projects, analyzing data and identifying potential issues or improvements.
- Develops and reviews detailed engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates for infrastructure projects.
- Collaborates with consultants, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permit requirements.
- Supervises and oversees the construction and installation of wastewater, civil, and/or nature-based projects, ensuring adherence to design specifications and quality standards.
- Performs field visits in support of inspections and assessments of existing infrastructure to identify maintenance and improvement needs.
- Stays updated on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in wastewater and/or civil engineering.
- Provides technical support and guidance to junior engineers and technicians, fostering a collaborative and learning environment.
- Develops and maintains project documentation, including reports, drawings, and specifications.
- Manages project schedules, budgets, and resources, ensuring effective project delivery within established timelines and financial constraints.
- Prepares and delivers presentations to stakeholders and regulatory agencies regarding the River Authority efforts, project status, findings, and recommendations.
- Performs related work as required.
SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS
- This position directly supervises engineers and technicians.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education and Experience
- An Undergraduate Degree from an ABET accredited college or university with emphasis in Civil, Environmental, or Agricultural Engineering, or relevant discipline, and six (6) years of progressively responsible engineering experience in all phases of engineering including analysis, drafting, surveying, design, construction, and appropriate education.
- Graduate Degree with an emphasis in Civil, Environmental, or Agricultural Engineering, Hydrology, or Water Resources; two (2) years of supervisory experience preferred.
Required Licenses or Certifications
- Professional Engineer License in the State of Texas
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record.
