KellyMitchell Group is recruiting a Senior Software Engineer for a major U.S. airline. This 6-month contract offers hybrid work in Fort Worth, TX with onsite Tue–Thu and remote Mon–Fri.

You will build and support Java/Spring Boot microservices in the cloud, design REST APIs, troubleshoot issues, and mentor junior engineers. We require 7+ years of hands-on Java development, current coding activity, and cloud experience on AWS or Azure. Monolithic-era work or non‑coding roles are not a fit.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of hands-on software development experience.
• Strong Java development experience, currently coding in Java.
• Hands-on experience building microservices with Spring Boot.
• Experience designing and building REST APIs used by other teams or applications.
• Hands-on experience deploying and supporting services on AWS or Azure.
• Able to work onsite Tuesdays through Thursdays in Fort Worth, TX.

Job Summary

Our client, a major U.S. airline, is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join their Servicing Technology team. It's a 6 month contract with potential to extend, hybrid in Fort Worth, TX, onsite Tuesdays through Thursdays and remote Mondays and Fridays, and they're looking for someone who can start as soon as possible. This person will build and support Java/Spring Boot microservices that run in the cloud, design and maintain REST APIs used across teams, troubleshoot issues and lead root cause analysis, and help coach junior engineers. We're looking for a senior backend engineer with 7+ years of hands-on development who is actively coding today and has built, deployed, and supported Spring Boot microservices on AWS or Azure themselves, which is the key differentiator for this role. Experience limited to monolithic applications, primarily front-end development, or recent roles focused on architecture or management without hands-on coding is not a fit. The interview includes an onsite coding exercise.

This position is W-2 only. We do not work with third-party firms or C2C arrangements for this role.

Preferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves)

• Master's degree in a technical field
• Airline or travel industry experience
• Docker and Kubernetes (EKS or AKS)
• Kafka or other event-driven messaging
• PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Redis
• CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins
• Test automation with JUnit, Mockito, or Postman
• AWS or Azure certifications

Work Environment

• Location: Fort Worth, TX, hybrid (onsite Tuesdays through Thursdays, remote Mondays and Fridays)
• Contract runs 6 months, with potential for extension
• Start date: as soon as possible

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $39.00and $56.00 per hour. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
