Job summary

General Motors in Michigan is seeking an Engine Calibration Engineer to join our Calibrations team. You will work with vehicles, software, and algorithms to design and release engine calibrations that meet customer design and performance requirements.

You will support the lead calibrator and diagnostic strategist, collaborate with vehicle platform, engine hardware, manufacturing, and quality teams, and lead calibration efforts across engine controls and data analysis.

Qualifications

BS degree in an engineering field as specified.
5+ years of technical and/or manufacturing engineering experience.
Experience with data acquisition and analysis on complex problems.
Some knowledge of powertrain systems.
Understanding of engineering theory and operation of mechanical/electrical mechanisms.
Valid driver’s license to operate test vehicles.

Responsibilities

Calibrate systems to meet product goals following documented procedures.
Help create new procedures to document standard work for new technologies.
Design and manage key strategic interfaces within Vehicle Calibration and/or Engine Controls.
Help train new calibration engineers on calibration processes.
Lead requirements development with other activities.
Support root cause analysis.
Lead troubleshooting activities for complex system issues across programs.
Strong ability to efficiently capture and analyze empirical data.
Keep abreast of industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
Identify and document calibration vulnerabilities and build mitigation action plans; track corrective actions.
The area of calibration responsibility could include: Engine Torque Control; Combustion Optimization/Knock Detection.
