Job summary

Sunset Search LLC in Seattle, WA, is seeking a hands-on Senior Service Technician to commission, service, and maintain energy storage systems across project sites. You will diagnose, test, and keep uptime targets, working with engineers on complex issues and leading on-site safety practices.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in electrical service or renewable energy, an electrical technician certification, experience with inverters, SCADA, MV equipment, and a willingness to travel up to 50%.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in electrical service, power systems, or renewable energy field work.
• Electrical technician certification strongly preferred.
• Experience with inverters, MV equipment, SCADA systems, or industrial controls.
• Familiarity with energy storage systems and national electrical codes.
• OSHA 30 (or ability to obtain shortly after hire).
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Ability to travel at least 50% to regional project sites.

Responsibilities

• Commission and maintain battery energy storage equipment, including BESS enclosures, PCS, RMUs/switchgear, and transformers.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance in accordance with warranty and service agreements.
• Diagnose issues related to electrical, controls, and communication systems.
• Support onsite testing, inspections, and field-level troubleshooting.
• Oversee subcontractors and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Maintain accurate work orders, service reports, and spare-parts inventory.
• Execute LOTO procedures and switching activities as required.
• Provide training and support to customers during commissioning.
• Adhere to safety protocols and ensure compliance with site requirements.
