Reporting Line

This position reports to the R&D Unit Lead.

Role and Responsibilities

In this role, you will utilize your technical expertise to select and qualify potential Energy Storage Systems and their manufacturers, ensuring Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) compatibility. You will support emerging applications around multifunction UPS for ancillary services such as frequency response and peak shaving.

The work model for this role is : Hybrid.

This position contributes to the Electrification Smart Power division.

You will be mainly accountable for :

• Leading the technical qualification of Energy Storage Systems (e.g., battery cells, battery racks, Battery Management Systems, etc.).
• Collaborating with stakeholders to identify new energy storage systems and battery technologies.
• Supporting certification of batteries and systems for American and IEC standards.
• Supporting new emerging applications and technical know-how on batteries.
• Identifying and communicating energy storage requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with energy storage systems and batteries.
• Experience working with electrical systems or demonstrated aptitude to learn complex power electronic systems.
• Knowledge of Agile methodology is a plus.
• Must have valid work authorization to work for ABB in the US.
