Job Description:

Summary:

Barr is seeking an energy storage engineer to join our electrical engineering team and support our clients across facility, utility, industrial, fuels, and mining sectors. The role involves working on multidisciplinary project teams, contributing to energy-storage business development, understanding market trends, and helping to build our service offerings. The position may require up to 25% travel for out-of-town assignments.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field
  2. 10+ years of relevant experience
  3. Ability to work cooperatively in a high-energy environment with self-initiative
  4. Flexible working style and schedule adaptability
  5. Strong technical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  6. Attention to detail and accuracy
  7. Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
  8. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
  9. Ability to collaborate with stakeholders for technical solutions

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience with energy storage applications and lifecycle demands
  2. Experience in the power industry or utilities
  3. PE license or ability to obtain within one year
  4. Proficiency in energy and financial modeling
  5. Knowledge of other renewable markets and technologies

A hybrid work arrangement may be considered, allowing split time between an office and home. The position can be based in Ann Arbor or Grand Rapids, MI; Denver or Fort Collins, CO; Duluth or Minneapolis, MN; or Salt Lake City, UT.

Compensation:

The base salary range is $115,000-$140,000/year, classified as exempt under FLSA. Compensation varies based on experience and qualifications, with potential for a discretionary bonus. Barr distributes profits to employees through bonuses and our ESOP.
