We are looking for a hands-on MQ Middleware Administrator to work on a team responsible for designing, provisioning, and managing enterprise-level systems used by both internal and external customers. The ideal candidate will have a strong and proven track record of success in a similar role.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as subject matter expert on IBM MQ/IIB/ACE/MQ MFT/MuleSoft, including providing technical assistance to application developers on Middleware related problems.
- Understand the technology vision and strategic direction of business needs.
- Provide production support 24/7 for at least one week per month.
- Assess and recommend best-practice solutions and/or new middleware and web technologies to enhance existing infrastructure capabilities.
- Participate in product roadmaps aligned with middleware/cloud products and business goals.
- Design integrated solutions using design patterns, blueprints, guidelines, and standard methodologies.
- Develop architecture and conceptual solutions incorporating cloud-native and third-party vendor products.
- Research and perform proof of concepts (POCs) with emerging technologies, adopting industry best practices for cloud migration and hybrid solutions.
- Troubleshoot production issues that application developers cannot resolve; may include writing build and deployment scripts.
- Demonstrate automation through Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to increase cloud build efficiency.
- Support rehydration and high availability (HA), along with emerging processes and technologies.
- Assist in developing validation and certification processes via automation tools.
- Monitor middleware performance and availability.
- Collaborate effectively on projects and initiatives as a team member.
Qualifications:
- Key Skills: MQ, EMSS, ESB
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Subject matter expertise in IBM Middleware products like MQ/IIB/ACE/MQ MFT and MuleSoft.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience; an advanced degree is preferred.
- At least 3 years of experience in design/support of MQ/IIB/ACE Middleware solutions.
- Experience with cloud-specific middleware solutions.
- Hands-on experience with languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript.
- Experience with AWS middleware solutions, compute, and storage offerings.
- Strong background in observability, networking, performance, and scalability.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and GitLab is a plus.
- Experience with Terraform, Python, Ansible, OS shell scripts, and automation tools is a plus.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and ability to work in an Agile environment.
- Strong application development background.
- Microservices experience is a plus.
- Cloud Certification is a plus.
- Experience with containerized platforms and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) is a plus.
