Job summary

A design and construction firm located in Walpole is seeking a Senior Energy Specialist to join the Preconstruction team on a part-time basis. This position serves as the senior expert on building performance and involves supporting project managers and architects with energy analysis and MEP/HVAC design. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in construction or design. Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Mechanical, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering or similar.
  • 5+ years of experience in construction or design-build office.
  • Knowledge of LEED, WELL and energy rating systems.
  • Experience with energy ratings for the certification of homes to energy efficiency standards.
  • Proficiency in 3D BIM software (Revit, Cadwork, or equal)

Job description

Bensonwood seeks a Senior Energy Specialist to join the Preconstruction team in a part-time role and serve as the senior expert on building performance within the company, and act as a point of contact for information on energy and building science during the sales, design, and build processes.

Support project managers, architects, and engineers with energy analysis and MEP / HVAC design through all stages of product and project development, as well as R&D efforts throughout the company. Consult with partners, clients and sub‑contractors to recommend high performance systems and assemblies.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Communicate energy performance standards and expectations internally and externally
  • Maintain updated expertise on building performance research
  • MEP Schematic Plans
  • MEP 3D modeling
  • Energy Code Research & ResCheck/ComCheck code compliance reports
  • Manual J calculations (heating system load and mechanical system sizing)
  • Energy load modeling for system and product comparisons and PV sizing

  • 5+ years of experience in construction, architectural, engineering or design‑build office
  • Knowledge of LEED, WELL and other Sustainability, Resiliency and Equity rating systems.
  • Experience with energy ratings for the certification of homes to energy efficiency standards
  • Proficiency in 3D B.I.M. software (Revit, Cadwork, or equal), Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat (PDF), WrightSoft
